about
Where to begin ... as a young lad growing up in Ireland long before the days of The Celtic Tiger we didn’t have luxuries such as cameras and travel with which to use them. Then a chance meeting led to a job in London and disposable income. The first purchase, a Nikon SLR and a bag full of film. I read all the books and magazines I could get my hands on. Being trained as an engineer meant I was attracted to the technical side of photography. Didn’t understand it but was interested.
I soon adopted the tried and tested machine-gun attitude; you fire off rolls of pictures and one of them is bound to be ok. Then came digital and I have now adopted the mini-gun approach; you don’t even have to aim.
What I like most about photography is that you learn to really look at the scenes around you and spotting the little details. In a fast paced world it’s nice to stop for a while and take in the view.
